Acestrorhynchus pantaneiro is a freshwater fish that lives in tropical waters. It is benthopelagic and feeds on other fish. It is native to Rio Cuiabá, in the Mato grosso state of Brazil. Today, it occus in Paraguay, Paraná, Uruguay, in the La Plata and Mamoré River basins.
