Shallow pond in Pantanal region, border Brazil-Bolivia

Sponsored by

Brazil, Mato Grosso, South America

Small pond at the outskirts of Pantanal region in the area where waters of two basins mix together. Rio Paraguay and Rio Guapore basins, both rich in flora and fauna mixed, create an incredible aquatic environment full of live. In shallow ponds like this one, circle of life often lasts only for one season and depends on rainfalls. Despite that, the abundance of organisms is astonishing.

The related BIOTOPE IN NATURE is that of Baìa Grande that has a very similar flora and fauna.
