The igarapé Prosperitate is a typical example of the countless small rain forest creeks of the Rio Negro region, located 12,5 km NW off its junction with the Rio Negro.

Jinan is famous for its spring water. A series of mountains embrace the city’s southern territories. In the mountains, some smallsized springs flow day and night. Impressed by the great views, I decided to design a fish-tank with Jinan characteristics.

Apistogramma borelli, a species that I love very much, lives in the region. This area, which is a flat and wide savanna, hosts small ponds along with the Parana River floods.

This 36L aquarium models a specific forest pond near Chiling Village, Zengcheng, Guangzhou, faithfully recreating one characteristic Macropodus opercularis habitat of Lingnan.

This aquarium centers on Macropodus opercularis as the keystone species, accompanied by sympatric Barbodes semifasciolatus and Cipangopaludina cathayensis.

The biotope represents the ecology of the Borneo’s peat swamp area.

The 288 litres aquarium shows a fragment of the floodplain of the Odra River (Łęgi Odrzańskie). Above the water there is lush marsh vegetation – mainly species of the Carex genus. The fish swim among the visible roots and sunken grasses.

The setup simulates the open channel bordered by dense vegetation and tree roots on both sides.

This 102L biotope aquarium replicates the natural habitat of Danio rerio, Horadandia brittani, and Carinotetraodon travancoricus.

The water is full of small crustaceans and insect larvae, excellent food sources that encourage fish to spawn. Detritus, algae and protozoa that occur in leaves litter are a good source of food for fry.
