Environmental education through real freshwater ecosystems
The Biotope Aquarium Project (BAP) is an international educational initiative focused on the study of real freshwater ecosystems and natural habitats. It is designed for schools, universities, museums, aquariums, and environmental institutions that want to include practical ecological education in their programs.
BAP is based on field observation of natural habitats (BIN – Biotopes in Nature) and their scientific interpretation into educational ecosystem models (BAM – Biotope Aquarium Models).
Educational purpose
Environmental education is most effective when connected to real ecosystems. BAP transforms freshwater habitat research into clear, engaging learning experiences that help participants understand how nature functions. By linking scientific knowledge with direct observation, BAP makes ecology tangible and relevant.
Learning outcomes
Through BAP activities, participants develop understanding of:
- freshwater habitats and biodiversity
- relationships between species
- environmental conditions and ecosystem balance
- ecological observation methods
- human impact on aquatic environments
Each workshop combines science, critical thinking, and practical learning.
Educational programs & network
BAP collaborates with:
- schools
- universities
- museums
- public aquariums
- environmental institutions
We create workshops and educational programs tailored to each audience.
At the same time, BAP is building an international network of educators, institutions, researchers, museums, and aquariums committed to freshwater ecosystem education.
Workshops
Workshops are the practical core of BAP.
They may include:
- guided learning activities
- freshwater biotope analysis
- ecosystem interpretation
- field research methods
- expert-led sessions
Programs such as TiCinema 2026 Workshops are developed within this framework.
Why institutions choose BAP
BAP works with schools, museums, aquariums, and educational centers to create workshops and programs adapted to each audience.
Institutions choose BAP to:
- increase engagement
- strengthen environmental education
- connect theory with real ecosystems
- offer practical scientific learning
- support STEM and ecology goals
Whether for a single workshop or a wider educational project, BAP can be tailored to your needs.
