In the 128L aquarium tank, a shallow part followed by a small piece of land is constructed to represent the fascinating shallow near-land area of the stream. A few kinds of aquatic and wetland plants are planted in the tank. Zacco sinensis, Squalidus argentatus and Pseudorasbora parva play the major role in the tank, and there are also a few shrimps and aquatic snails collected from the wild to clean algae and make the tank looks clear, just as what they do in the nature. Besides, two variable frequency pumps are used to mimic the water flow in the biotope.

Aquarium decoration

Stones, sands, and plants used in the tank are all collected from the stream, and disinfected before construction. To mimic the slope of the shallow coastal area, bio-safe polystyrene foam is used to build a bottom with proper slope, and sands are then covered on it. Moreover, to represent the algae in the wild, the light is opened in high power for about 15 hours a day.

Aquarium equipment

Pump:

  • NETLEA aquarium time variable frequency pump 22W, 2500L/h
  • NETLEA aquarium time Oil film remover, 4W, 350L/h

Filtration:

  • BESSN filtration, 15L, divided into 3 basket, one for cotton filter, and others for bacterial cultivation filter material

Light:

  • NETLEA aquarium time full-spectrum light, 90W
Fish care

Use air conditioner to control the temperature no higher than 28 degrees, disinfect before putting into the tank, and feed two or three times a week with different food, including worms, shrimps, fodder, and spinach.

Fish list:

  • Zacco sinensis (Cyprinidae)
  • Squalidus argentatus (Cyprinidae)
  • Pseudorasbora parva (Cyprinidae)
Plant care

Provide enough light with full-spectrum, supplement fertilizers regularly, and use shrimps and snails to control algae.

Aquatic plant:

  • Myriophyllum spicatum L. (Haloragaceae)

Wetland plant:

  • Phragmites australis (Poaceae)
