Flávio César Thadeo de Lima is a Brazilian ichthyologist who has been interested in South American freshwater fishes since his youth. He is specialized in characiform fishes and has published several scientific papers on the systematics of tetra characins, but he has also published extensively on the large-sized characins of the genera Brycon and Salminus and has described several species of loricariid and corydoradine catfishes, the latter being his secondary expertise. He is currently a research collaborator at the Museu de Diversidade Biológica (MDBio), Campinas State University, Campinas, Brazil.
