BAP Expert Zhou Hang

Zhou Hang is an ethusiastic aquarist. Zhou spent most of his childhood time in Japan. While living in Singapore, he conducted many field surveys in Southeastern Asia, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Tailand, and Sri Lanka, looking for Betta spp. Over the years, Zhou has observed the natural habitat of over 50 species of fighting fishes in the wild and photographed them.

After returning to China, Zhou’s main interest became freshwater fishes of Southern China, especially Rhinogobius spp. Rhinogobius zhoui is a fish that he discovered in 2009 and which was later named after him.
