Aquarium description

Set-up date

Aquarium decoration

Its most interesting features include a predominant fine sand bed, intricate snag piles or galhadas of submerged wood and rocks, and a vibrant riparian zone represented by jiboia roots extending into the water.

This habitat supports native species such as the sand-sifting Geophagus sveni and the characteristic Pseudacanthicus pitanga (L024), all thriving in clear, slow-flowing water parameters, demonstrating natural interactions.

Aquarium equipment

Filtration includes a sump system of approximately 350 liters, including static and fluidized media, as well as a thick layer of mechanical filtration and a settling area.

For heating, I use two 300w Eheim thermostats and a 12,000l/h booster pump.

Fish list:

  • Geophagus sveni (Cichlidae)
  • Geophagus neambi (Cichlidae)
  • Acarichthys heckelii (Cichlidae)
  • Pseudacanthicus pitanga (Loricariidae)
  • Panaque armbrusteri (Loricariidae)
  • Myloplus asterias (Serrasalmidae)
  • Mesonauta festivus (Cichlidae)
  • Platydoras armatulus (Doradidae)

Wetland plant list:

  • Epipremnum aureum (Araceae)
Fish care

As far as feeding in general is concerned, I feed insects, crustaceans and fish, as well as tenébrios, BSF larvae, shrimps and vegetables. Vegetables are loved by L027 and Acarichthys heckelii, for example, while insects are loved by all Cichlidae.

Plant care
Water care

I add probiotics and prebiotics every week and monitor GH. I also do partial water changes, changing around 20% together with vacuuming in areas that end up collecting more debris.
