Floodplain forest, Nhamundá region, Brazil

Sponsored by

Brazil, Amazon State, Nhamunda

Every rainy season, the forests in the Nhamunda area are submerged, presenting a landscape of an underwater forest beneath the water. This provides conditions for fish to breed and abundant food. The Nhamunda area is home to a variety of discus.

I set up branches in the fish tank to simulate this breeding environment. The fish in the tank also complement each other, playing a role in maintaining water quality. It is not difficult to see from the state of the fish that this fish tank makes them very relaxed.

Stepping into the floodplain forest of Nhamunda, Brazil, clear waters spread across the woodland. The surface is as smooth as a mirror, where underwater plants and pebbles are clearly visible. The current flows gently like silk, only stirring up tiny ripples.

Tall trees form a canopy that filters sunlight into dappled spots. Trunks root in the water, wrapped by vines that mirror their reflections. Birdsong mingles with the murmur of water, creating a serene symphony of nature.
