#9305 Floodplain, Rio Paraconi, Brazil

Sponsored by

Brazil, Amazonas

The Paraconi River is a tributary of the middle Amazon River, and it is also the origin of Paraconi tetras. They prefer to gather under water lilies or in underwater woods to hide from predators. I have set up their favorite environment in the aquarium to give them enough security. My efforts have paid off – they love the environment I created for them and trust me very much. Now I can even touch them with my hands.

Environment

Surrounding area

On the banks of the Paraconi River, dense mangrove roots twist and intertwine, stretching horizontally through the clear river water. Canopies tower overhead, casting dappled light onto the water’s surface. Water lilies unfurl their leaves, forming a natural barrier with the tangled tree roots beneath the water. This is the habitat of Paraconi discus fish. They dart among the roots, their vibrant bodies shimmering in the play of light and shadow, leisurely evading predators and thriving in the shelter of this unique ecosystem.
