Sponsored by

Brazil, Amazonas

Igarapé do Cumaru is a tributary of the Paraná Ataui, which is a tributary of the Rio Negro, in turn. The area is covered with dense emerged vegetation that allows very little light to pass. The water is dark due to the decaying materials and the pH is acidic due to the effect of tannins.
