Mexico, Hidalgo, Coacuilco

Coacuilco its an small town in the state of Hidalgo in México, next to the village there is a river with medium to fast flowing stream depending on the season, the river its often visited by tourist and swimmers.

There is a lack of vegetation in the water, in some months mainly on the dry season you can see some algae attach to the rocks, because of the poor circulation and acumulation of debris. The bottom of the river its conformed by silical sand and rounded rocks and pebbles very calcaric. The river its sorrounded by some terrestrial vegetation such as tress like Ulmus sp., Adiantum tenerum, Sphagneticola tribulata, among others.

Comment by the expert

Juan Miguel Artigas Azas: The aquarium is appealing and as close to nature as it could be. One valuable aspect in contrast to other aquariums I have examined in this contest is that the choosing of a species only aquarium for an endangered species is valuable, and likely to be maintained long term.

Jairo Arroyave: Media is OK, shows the underwater habitat with enough detail, although the video could have had better quality overall. Regardless, it documents the habitat well enough. Bibliography and sitography also appear sufficient, although it could have been more extensive. The descritpion of the environment is thorough, except for a few missing entires for water chemistry.
