Yanqi River Basin located in Shentang valley has beautiful natural environment, rich in biological resources. In the slow flow area of the river, there are a large number of Vallisneria natans, Hydrilla verticillata, Nymphaea tetragona and Phragmites australis. Pungitius sinensis lives in this area together with other fish. Pungitius sinensis prefers the shallow areas with dense water plants growth. It likes low water temperature and swims gracefully. It is a special fish species in Northern China.

Yanqi River is located in Shentang Valley in Beijing which is about 70 kilometers from the Beijing urban area. The Scenic area has a green vegetation coverage rate of more than 75% with lush trees, fresh air, clean water quality and little pollution. The climate is pleasant, with a high day and night temperature difference. The average annual temperature in the area is between 7-19 degrees Celsius, with the rainy season from June to September and the dry season from October to January.
- Underwater landscape
Yanqi River located in Shentang Valley is about 5-10 meters wide and 20cm-1m deep. The river is filled with varying sizes of pebbles covered with algae. The river substrate is sandy in most areas, and the water in the center is fast and clear. The water in the shallow stream area is covered by a thick layer of mud, which provides good growing environment for plants such as Vallisneria natans, Hydrilla verticillata, Nymphaea tetragona and Phragmites australis.
