INDONESIA: Aru Archipelago II. Part 1

The last time I was in the Aru Islands was in 2007 and I was able to catch many new species there. I already reported on this in my previous articles. In 2013, for the third time, it was time I should have again the opportunity to look for rainbowfish in this remote area.

In mid-2012, while I was in my office working late in the evening on a text about fish in Northern Australia, I suddenly received a call from Gerry (Gerald R. Allen) from Down Under. He said: “Heiko, Mark Erdmann has a sponsor who chartered the sailing ship Putiraja for diving for two weeks and would also like to visit Misool and Aru. I suggested you as a guide, because only you did research there and know the archipelago. Can you come?”…
