United States, Texas, Plano
All materials are used from this creek. The idea for the tank was for the main water portion to be a deeper, calmer pool and for the current on the left side to be a trickle or miniature waterfall made from a riffle upstream (this flow was used from the outflow of a canister filter). Grasses were all found alongside the creek and roots were used from another (larger) plant which had its roots in the water.
A large cave was set up, making the rock structure hollow 6 inches in, and the Fundulus zebrinus use it as territory. Live foods like spiders, isopods, springtails and other bugs which live in the land portion are eaten by fish if they fall in, and harvested foods like mosquito larvae and nymphs are fed, frozen food like Mysis shrimp and bloodworms are fed also, but these fish will eat just about anything.
