Viet Nam, Quang Thai Commune, Hue City

Suoi Cat is located in Quang Thai commune, Quang Dien district, Hue city, Vietnam. This is a wild stream with underground water all year round, a very special ecosystem and a characteristic black water color. The beautiful landscape here and the diverse and rich flora have become the inspiration to create this population of organisms, especially Tanichthys micagemmae. They are quite common in this place with the habit of swimming in schools and swimming quite fast with community residents such as Oryzias pectoralis with Trichopsis vittata.

Suoi Cat, Quang Thai commune, Quang Dien district, Hue city, Vietnam is a wild stream that attracts many animals to live here. There are many species of birds, reptiles and fish. In the rainy season, the temperature here is about 24°, which is an ideal place for birds and plants to grow.

Underwater landscape

The water in this area has a lot of driftwood and fallen dry leaves, creating a beautiful black water color for the native fish here. Tanichthys micagemmae swims in schools looking for food in the fallen leaves, which is very beautiful. The Oryzias pectoralis swims in schools on the water surface, their eyes glow in the black water, which is very cool, which is what I find interesting. And the Trichopsis vittata lives in the branches of driftwood and that place is also an ideal hiding place.

Fish list:

  • Tanichthys micagemmae (Cyprinidae)
  • Oryzias pectoralis (Adrianichthyidae)
  • Trichopsis vittata (Osphronemidae)

Terrestrial vegetation list:

  • Acacia auriculiformis (Fabaceae)
Threats to ecology

Although this place is not known to many people, if the timber of Acacia auriculiformis is exploited, it could be a threat to the creatures here.
