Chaetobranchopsis australis is a freshwater, benthopelagic fish native to Paraguay. It lives in swamps and flooded grounds with shallow water. It usually finds shelter among aquatic plant stocks or tree roots. It has never been spawned in the aquarium nor are there reports of any spawning in nature.
