The species of the rainbowfish genus Chilatherina have only become popular in the aquarium hobby in the late 1970s, early 1980s, and specially with my discovery of C. bleheri in 1982 in the remote lake Danau Biru, the so called Lake Holmes. Gerald Allen and myself were doing research at the time in Irian Jaya (today also called West Papua), Indonesia, and we had been able to find a plane to charter from a missionary in Sentani – to fly into this remote area where a small grass-landing strip had been built at the southern end of the lake…
