COLOMBIA: Searching for fish in the caños of the Río Taraira

To reach this river is extreme difficult and I had to coordinate this expedition well in advance. The fuel and a voadeira (an aluminium boat) had to be hauled for 2500 river kilometres from Leticia in Colombia, down the Rio Solimões in Brazil and up the entire Rio Japurá back into Colombia and to La Pedrera. And La Pedrera on the río Caquetá is the only place in the region, which has a landing strip and there was only a charted plane going, costing a fortune, like the fuel which ended up to cost me US$ 7 per litre Diesel…
