The Rio Siapa is a tributary of the Casiquare Canal, the major waterway connecting the Orinoco and Amazon river basins. With its low gradient, the Casiquiare should act as a relatively easy channel for which fish could use to traverse between the basins, but due to its specific water chemistry, only a relatively small number of fish species can move freely between these basins.

Roberto E. Reis: Poor description of surroundings and habitat and its parameters; no photos or videos. Fair list of ornamental fishes. Poor bibliography, no sitography.
Pablo C. Lehmann: The entry correctly highlights the exceptional Casiquiare connection and lists several plausible blackwater fishes, supported by two highly relevant scientific references on Casiquiare fish biogeography. However, most of the actual BIN documentation is missing: no meaningful surrounding-area description, terrestrial vegetation, ecological-threat discussion or underwater landscape is supplied, and temperature, pH, conductivity, hardness and dissolved oxygen are all blank. The bibliography is the strongest component of this submission.
