The creation of this BAM is based on the data of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) entitled “Iktiofauna in the Menoreh karst area, Central Java and its conservation efforts”, 2015 and recreates biotope for gobies in the Gesing river.

The Menoreh Mountain area is geomorphologically complex. Some of the rocks found include: sandstone, sandy marl, claystone, and limestone of the Middle Eocene; andesitic rocks, andesite breccias and tuff which are the result of Menoreh Volcano activity in the Oligocene; limestone and coral deposited in the Lower Miocene; and colluvium material deposited in the Quarter Age.

Aquarium decoration

For aquarium decoration are used rocks, sand, gravel I took from the biotope. I added wood branches, twigs and dry leaves, which are very easy to find.

Aquarium equipment
  • Filtration: sump filter with mechanical media such as cotton to filter, and biological media.
  • Water pump: 2000Lph pump, surface water circulation using a 1700Lph x3 pump engine.
  • Lighting: lamps using z-series WRGB 10000k candlesticks on the right and left sides.
Fish care

I give my fish blood worms, silk worms and water fleas 2 times a day and a little extra fish pellets. The aquarium is exposed to sunlight 9-11 hours.

Plant care

There are no plants in the aquarium.

Water care

The water in the aquarium is replaced every 7 days as much as 20%. I replace the filter cotton, wash the bio media every 2 months.

Heok Hee Ng: Fishes used seem to be the correct species for the biotope. The absence of plants is commendable, as it accurately recreates the biotope.
