Forest stream in Singkep Island, Indonesia

Sponsored by

Indonesia, Riau Archipelago, Lingga Regency

This forest stream is located in the Northern part of Singkep island, the pristine untouched forest of the island has become home to some of the healthiest forest streams, the locals have not touched this location although nearby “Kampong” is located a few kilometers away from the forest, lots of plants with burs and spikes such as Rattan, Crytosperma and the Pandanus, this what makes it extra difficult to get through this spot. The water is pretty much clear and we can see through all the way to the bottom, the base is a mud-like substrate and covered in sediments of organic matter such as dried leaves, branches, and sticks also there are lots of Crytocoryne nurii growing healthily in this stream.

Peter Unmack:  Video of habitat was a bit hard to watch, nice video of fish in aquarium, but would have liked to have seen a bit more of a whole view of the setup.

Greg Martin: Very thorough.
