…At the mouth of this nameless tributary I sighted a very large white sandbank approximately 15 metre long and 5 metre wide bay with a dead end, which I had to seine. With Pedro’s help we pulled my 9-metre seine all the way to the end and came up with species living in the open water. There was the beautiful Boulengerella lateristriga, the smallest of the needle fishes, Belonion dibranchodon, a never seen before Hemiodus species with a long black lateral stripe from the caudal peduncle to the begin of the dorsal fin and further up front a single black spot. We had also large Geophagus cf. abalius and Satanoperca cf. papaterra in the net….
